Quick start — your first booklet

This walkthrough takes a print-ready PDF and turns it into an imposed sheet you can send to the press. It should take just a few minutes.

What you'll need

A multi-page PDF (for a saddle-stitch booklet, a page count that's a multiple of 4 works best) and the sheet size your press runs.

1. Open your PDF

Launch Imposio and open your document:

  • Home → Open, or drag the PDF onto the Imposio window.

Your pages appear as thumbnails in the Pages panel on the left, and the current page renders on the canvas in the middle.

2. Switch to the Imposition tab

On the ribbon, open the Imposition tab. This is where you choose how your pages are laid out on the press sheet.

3. Choose a booklet layout

Pick the saddle-stitch booklet layout. Imposio reorders the pages into printer spreads automatically, so page 1 and the last page sit together, and so on.

4. Set the sheet and margins

  • Choose your sheet size (the paper your press prints on).
  • Set bleed and gutters if your job needs them.

5. Add printer's marks

Turn on crop marks and registration marks so finishing and colour alignment have references.

6. Preview and export

Check the preview on the canvas, then export:

  • For a press-ready file, export to PDF.
  • For a RIP that expects rasters, use image export (including multi-page TIFF).

That's it — you've imposed your first booklet. 🎉
