Interface tour

A quick map of the Imposio workspace.

The ribbon

Across the top, the ribbon groups tools into tabs:

  • Document — open/save documents, page operations, clipboard, settings.
  • Editor — editing tools: move, text, frame text, images, shapes (line, rectangle, polygon, circle), checkbox, layers, undo/redo.
  • Imposition — lay pages out on the press sheet (booklets, N-up and more).
  • Variable Data — merge data-file records into the page design (VDP).
  • Script — write and run scripts to automate work.

Three small buttons at the right end of the tab row toggle the ribbon and the two side panels on and off; their state is remembered between sessions.

Document tabs

Imposio is multi-document: each open file gets its own tab, so you can work on several jobs at once.

Page panel (left)

The Pages panel shows thumbnails of every page. From here you can add, remove, replace, reorder and copy/paste pages, and work with page ranges.

Canvas (centre)

The canvas renders the current page. You can:

  • zoom in/out and scroll,
  • use the ruler, grid and snapping,
  • select and highlight objects,
  • draw and edit with the Editor tools.

Tool panel (right)

The right-hand inspector shows details for the current page:

  • Objects — a tree of the page's content (text, images, shapes), with tree/flat views. Turn on the picker to select objects on the canvas: it stays on until you switch it off, click picks one object, and dragging a box selects several at once.
  • Properties — type, position and size of the selected object, plus edit and delete (both work on a whole multi-selection, including pieces nested inside forms).

Status bar

Along the bottom, the status bar shows save progress, file size and recent messages.
